Florence

Tuesday, 3.11.2014:

Angie, Shawn and I all woke up and collected our stuff to check out on time and meet up with Amy and Erica. On the way to the train station we picked up some croissants for breakfast. We bought our tickets for Florence and waited a bit before boarding the train. On the train everyone napped a little more. At the Florence station we tried to get our bearings straight in order to find the hostel. We had no idea where we were but we concluded that we must had gotten into town not at the main train station. We walked towards what looked like the city center for a while. Eventually after about 30 minutes of lugging our bags around we stopped in a hotel and asked for some help. Although the guy wasn't much help, I picked up a map from the desk. With the map we figured out where we were and I then guided all of us to our hotel. At the hotel we took a break to give our feet some rest and to get a little bit of wifi before heading out for paninis and to explore the city. We went to this panini place that was recommended to Shawn by a friend. Although the ingredients we incredibly fresh and delicious, I wish mine had a little olive oil or mayo to make it a little less dry. After eating we walked all around the city. We walked to the Ponte Vecchio, the Palace, through the leather markets, and through the main Plaza where the Duomo and Cathedral are. One of the best things about this walk was that I was able to find a camera charger. Yippee! After our long walk we went back to the hostel and then went to dinner. Everyone enjoyed either pasta or pizza. With our stomachs full, we went back to the hostel to enjoy some wine in the courtyard. We even ran into Becca and Catie, and then Spencer, Joel, Will and Maddie and caught up with all of them.

All in all a wonderful day in Florence.
