Reunited and Feels So Good

Sunday, 2.16.2014:

Everyone begrudgingly woke up to pack and got ready for Brussels. Everyone was struggling a little bit this morning. After checking out of the hostel we made our way to the bus station for our trip to Brussels. Everyone fell asleep for the bus ride, but it was lovely to watch the country side go by. Also the shuffle mode on my iPod was on point. Every song was a winner! When we were finally in Brussels we attempted to find our hostel to drop off our stuff. That deemed to extremely difficult because

           1. We did not have directions to the hostel
2.the isn't a clear sign indicating that the hostel is there
           3. Everyone was so distracted since we were so hungry.

After wondering around and consulting a hotel for directions we finally found the hostel. And what do we find out when we get to the door of the hostel? That check in is in another building....across town. Frustration was getting even worse. We then trekked across town to finally check in. After checking in we rewarded ourselves with a Belgium waffle. That was a great decision! The waffles were absolutely delicious.

We then went to our hostel to finally drop everything off. At the hostel I got to meet up with my friends Hannah and Becky. This was easily one of the best parts the weekend since I missed both of them so much. Being around them was like a breath of fresh air. The three of us decided to walk around Brussels together and grab dinner. We ate at this like Kabob place and it hit the spot. It was incredibly nice to catch up with both of them, and it was fun to hear about their adventures so far. After dinner and walking around the city, the three of us returned to the hostel to get ready to go our for the night.

All of the other Illinois kids met us back at the hostel and we hung out as one big group before walking over to Delirium - a famous bar in Brussels. Some other Belgium Illinois study abroad were with us and we all went out to celebrate one of their birthdays. I was given the job of finding the bar - this ended up being a disaster since I took everyone in one big circle. It was at this point then Becky and Hannah realized I know no idea what I was doing. After a while we did ended up the bar. Delirium was fun but it was very quite since it was a Sunday night. A lot of us spent the time playing games like Never Have I Ever. After being at Delirium for a while, Becky, Hannah and I walked over to an Irish pub called The Celtica. That ended up being a lot of fun since it was the three of us out together. All of us made friends with a couple of Australian guys. Since all of us had had a long day we called it a night. When we got back to the hostel, Hannah was convinced that she had left her phone at the bar so she walked all the way back just to realize it was on her the whole time. Classic Hannah. After friending our new Australian friends, everyone went up to their rooms to get a little sleep.

Cheers,
Jenny
