Roaming Rome By Myself

 Sunday, 3.16.2014:

This day was a chance for me to see how I do in a foreign city by myself. I woke up early and walked over to the subway station to make my way to the Colosseum. Getting to the Colosseum  was incredibly easy. As I avoided all the annoying people trying to sell me Colosseum and Roman Forum tours I walked over to the entrance. Since I had purchased tickets early I was able to skip the line and get into the Colosseum pretty fast. I walked around and read all the information in the museum and around the entire Colosseum. Here are some of the pictures from my trip around the Roman monument:

I then went grab some lunch at a restaurant near the Colosseum. I chowed down on my food as I enjoyed the beautiful view of the famous monument. After my lunch I went to look at the Roman Forum. I wandered around and took a variety of pictures. Take a look:

After this historical morning and afternoon, I went back to the hostel to meet up with all the other Illinois kids. I meet up with Angie and Shannon for a little before walking to enjoy my last gelato of the trip. After I licked away my very final cone we all packed up our bags to head back home. Grabbing a bus to the airport was a tad annoying since apparently everyone employed in the transportation industry had a stick up their butt. On the bus Shannon and I had a lovely conversation and the whole vacation and our friends that we were going to see later this semester. Maneuvering the airport was super easy. We went through security, duty free, and check-in quickly. The plane ride and getting back to the apartment was a pretty smooth ride. Once back at our place, Catie, Becca and I went straight to bed to get sleep for the St. Patrick's adventures that lay ahead the next day.

Cheers,
Jenny
